Traffic jams 'losing taxis money'
A Guernsey taxi driver claims traffic jams on the island's roads are costing his profession money.

Dave Le Poidevin, the secretary of the Taxi Drivers Federation, is calling on more to be done to combat the problem.

He believes journey times could be cut by better planning and more information for road users.

He said he had heard of several instances where drivers were getting stuck in traffic and it was hitting them in the pocket.

"I heard of one example where one of my colleagues was trying to get a passenger from Footes Lane to Rohais surgery.

"He sat at the bottom of Rohais for about 10 to 12 minutes, and in the end the passenger got out and walked from the Rohais chip shop.

"However, that left the driver stuck in traffic and until the congestion cleared he was unable to move onto his next fare."
