One-way roads could 'cut speed'
Speed camera sign
Chris Brock says several measures are needed to tackle speeding
A Guernsey politician believes more one-way roads could be created to calm traffic on the island.

Deputy Chris Brock claims speeding has reached epidemic proportions and he is keen to see the introduction of speed cameras to help tackle the problem.

But he says a whole range of measures are needed, including making some roads one way where appropriate.

"Some of our roads are simply too small to take the volume of traffic on them now," he said.

"I believe one-way systems with calming could be very effective, but it has got to be carefully handled.

"Obviously we don't want to put pressure on other road systems if you make a particular road one way.

"But calming measures are something I could be specifically involved in because I am on the Environment Committee."
