Panel seeks public's waste views

The States agreed on an inquiry in July
Views on how best to dispose of waste in Guernsey are being sought from the public.

A new panel looking into how rubbish is managed is carrying out a consultation as part of its review of plans for an incinerator at Longue Hougue.

The recently-formed group is seeking written submissions which should be no longer than two sides of A4.

The deadline for the suggestions is 24 September and submissions will also be published on a website .

Plan criticised

It is not just individuals who are being asked to comment but also local groups.

The panel also wants comments on all forms of waste disposal not just on mass burn technology.

The submissions will also be put up for inspection at Sir Charles Frossard House.

Guernsey's States agreed in July by 23 votes to 20 in favour of Deputy Scott Ogier's requete for an inquiry into the proposals to build the plant.

The planned 100ft (30m) high plant has been criticised by some locals for the affect it may have on the environment.
