Call to resolve paid parking charges
Car parked illegally
The scheme is to encourage people to use public transport
Commuters in Guernsey may have to pay 15 pence per hour to park in St Peter Port's long-stay car park.

The charges have been proposed by the Traffic Committee.

The States has already agreed to the principal of paid parking but they have so far been unable to agree a set of charges.

Committee President, Deputy Pat Mellor say the current situation is "a nonsense" and must be resolved before the next election.

The topic of paid parking has been debated in the House for several years.

The Traffic Committee unveiled it as a strategy to get motorists off the roads and onto public transport.
