Pay parking is part of the island's new traffic strategy |
Guernsey's Motor Trades Association has expressed its disappointment over 'a lack of consultation' on the island's new traffic strategy. The States last week approved long-stay pay parking, the reduction of road tax in favour of increased fuel tax, and the banning of bull bars.
Association president Dave Beausire said his group had spoken to the Traffic Committee.
However, he added the Association was not approached by any other States members in the run-up to the debate.
"They have passed everything without having the facts.
"What people want to know, and what the Association asked last year, is how much is all this going to cost?
"They will now have to go back to the States again once they have come up with the numbers."
Green vehicles
Mr Beausire said no States members had approached the Association to discuss green vehicles and what benefits they would bring to the island.
"To make a car run on liquid petroleum gas is very expensive," he said.
"Electric cars are impractical on the hilly roads of Guernsey, yet we are being told we will have greener cars.
"Can someone tell me from where?"
