Gale force winds disrupt ferries

Ferry operators expect services to return to normal later
Gale force winds have prevented some ferry services leaving or arriving in the Channel Islands.

Islanders returning to Jersey and Guernsey after the Bank Holiday break were delayed and some services have been cancelled.

In Jersey some roads had to be cleared after a number of trees came down and debris was blown onto roads.

The weather also led to some attractions being closed to visitors on Monday morning.

But organisers of the Foire de Jersey said the event in Trinity would go ahead after alternative parking was arranged.

On Sunday more than 50 vehicles were stuck in waterlogged fields.

Ferry operators have said most services are expected to return to normal on Monday afternoon.
