Charges may increase transfer costs
Jersey Airport
Coach firms say costs may be passed on to passengers
Tourists arriving at Jersey airport could have to pay more for their airport transfers in the future.

The warning comes from the island's coach operators after it was announced they would be charged for parking outside the arrivals hall.

In a letter, coach operators were told a new charge was being introduced from next year.

It means every vehicle going into the car park beside the arrivals hall will have to pay a certain amount.

Paul Young, operations director of Tantivy Blue Coach, says it is the tourists that will have to pay eventually as the company will have to pass the costs on to customers.

But Senator Len Norman, President of the Harbours and Airport Committee, defended the introduction of the charges.

He said the charges would bring in thousand of pounds and could help the airport to lower the amount of landing fees it charges, which would benefit all air passengers.
