Airline hits at support
Jersey Airport
Jersey will get new flights to Milan
An airline serving Jersey says it is "unfortunate" it has not received any financial help from the island's government with new routes.

From Sunday, Flybe will provide three services a day between Jersey and Southampton.

But Ian Taylor, Flybe's general manager of market development, said the States should have offered concessions on the new services.

He said: "Unfortunately, we have not had any financial support from the States in the introduction of these new routes.

"It would have been very nice to have had financial support, but we have had none."

Cheap fares

He claimed the new route would make life better and cheaper for island passengers.

Mr Taylor said they would will also be able to take advantage of cheap fares from Jersey, via Southampton, to destinations in the rest of Europe.

"With the introduction of Milan and Geneva on Sunday, fares start from 59 one way from Jersey to Milan and Jersey to Geneva.

"I think that by anybody's stretch of the imagination that is a cheap fare."
