Officials are seeking the restoration of the Heathrow air link |
Channel Islands officials are hoping the UK government will help to restore a Jersey to Heathrow air route.
Jersey and Guernsey's transport authorities met UK government officials at Westminster to explain how the islands depend on their air links.
Senator Len Norman, president of Jersey's Harbours and Airport Committee, said the return of the route would not happen soon, but the meeting was very positive.
"The UK government, supported by the European Union, will recognise there is a social responsibility, not just an economic responsibility, to governments, and through them the airlines, to serve the communities of - in our case - the British Isles, rather than just the shareholders of airports and airlines."
