Legal fight on the buses

Easylink: Town and tourist destinations
Jersey coach company Tantivy is disputing a court action by the Environment and Public Services Committee, over its new Easylink service.

Tantivy Holiday Coach Tours Ltd lost the tendering process to operate a bus service in Jersey, when Connex took over last year.

But earlier this year the old Tantivy buses reappeared as the Easylink service, running between town and tourist destinations across the island.

The committee claims it is breaking the law by doing this without a licence, because it makes stops to pick up and let off people along the route.

Tantivy says it only takes people to and from specific sites, which it argues does not need a licence.

The case will be heard in the Royal Court.
