 Easylink: Island attractions |
A new public transport service will benefit bus users, its managing director has said. Easylink started a cut-price service between a number of island attractions at the weekend.
It is run by Tantivy Blue Coach using former Jersey Bus vehicles painted yellow and green.
The fare of 1.50 for all journeys undercuts the present States-subsidised bus service Connex.
But Mike Cotillard, Tantivity's managing director, said competition would benefit the consumer.
He said: "They get large subsidies and we don't.
"We are just a private company trying to do the best we can."
Questions have been raised about whether it is operating legally.
The company did not inform public services officials of its intentions, as it claims the service is covered by its coach license.
Public servants have been trying to decide if a service like Easylink can be run under its current license, or if it constitutes a bus service.
Jersey Bus Users Forum has warned the new service could mean a loss in revenue to public services if Connex was hit.
