Politicians to debate spending
Jersey States
Spending plans could be released to all States members
The subject of public spending is to again dominates another sitting of Jersey's government.

The release of information on spending options and a host of finance-related questions are the key aspects of a States session due to take place on Tuesday.

Eleven sets of questions have been tabled.

The main item of debate will be Senator Stuart Syvret's proposal to require the Finance Committee to release information about spending plans to all States members - not just committee presidents.

Health scheme

Deputy Roy Le Herissier will be asking the Finance president about possible changes to Jersey's tax structure.

He will be asking about the likelihood of staying with what he calls "a proliferation of special charges and unreformed taxes".

And the Constable of St Martin, John Germain, makes a rare foray into question time over the two-year trial health scheme for older people.

The scheme receives nearly 700,000 of taxpayers' money each year.
