Hollywood actress Uma Thurman has told a New York court the man who is on trial accused of stalking her made her feel "panicked" and "frightened".

The 38-year-old said she felt "sick" after receiving a picture of a razor blade and a gravestone marked RIP near what appeared to be an open grave.

"I was just completely disturbed," she said. "I didn't know what to do."

Jack Jordan denies charges of stalking and aggravated harassment. He faces up to a year in jail if convicted.

Ms Thurman told Manhattan state Supreme Court she was "completely freaked out" when she received a disturbing letter from Mr Jordan while on the set of My Super Ex-Girlfriend.

The former psychiatric patient apparently told the actress's parents he would kill himself unless he could see her.

Mr Jordan, who once said that his hands should be on the star's body "at all times", is also said to have tried to get into her trailer during the filming of My Super Ex-Girlfriend and even turned up at her home several times.

'So disturbing'

Ms Thurman also said the production's security staff had called police after he turned up a second time on set.

"It was just so disturbing, so terrifying," the mother-of-two said.

When asked by assistant district attorney Colleen Walsh if she was able to continue working, Ms Thurman said: "Yes. I have to work. You just can't be late in my job."

The jury also heard Mr Jordan, 37, had called Ms Thurman's elderly mother Nena at her home, and had told other family members about suicide and his love for the actress.

Clearly distressed during her testimony, the actress told the court how she felt a "stone drop in my stomach" when she realised the extent of Jordan's contact with her family.

Ms Thurman, who was nominated for the best supporting actress Oscar for her role in Pulp Fiction in 1994, said: "To see a stranger even write down the names of my children, I found that very frightening.

"The idea that the person was imagining himself and me in a cave, mummified, was just disturbing."

The case continues.
