Nottingham-born Samantha Morton starred in Minority Report |
A Nottingham-born actress has told a court she was left feeling "very frightened" after being stalked by a childhood acquaintance. Samantha Morton, 30, told the City of Westminster Magistrates' Court she had installed security cameras at her home after being bombarded with letters.
Noel Watts, who is 42 and from Clifton in Nottingham, has denied two charges of harassment.
Mr Watts will represent himself when the trial continues on 28 March.
Angry calls
Miss Morton, who co-starred with Tom Cruise in Minority Report, said she met Mr Watts at a homeless shelter in Nottingham when she was 13 years old.
She told the court on Tuesday that Mr Watts first wrote to her in 2004 - more than 10 years after she last saw him.
The letter made her feel "very frightened" because "this person was very angry with me for not being in contact".
Marc Robinson, prosecuting, said Mr Watts also sent text messages to Miss Morton's agent, as well as other "angry" letters and phone calls directly to the actress.
"The subject of the texts, although not directly threatening, were very emotional and tended towards the suggestion that Mr Watts was in love with Miss Morton, something which is not borne out by the facts, is certainly not reciprocated and not brought on by any of her actions," said Mr Robinson.
