Mr Furo was ordered to stay away from Mr Cage and his family |
A naked intruder who broke into the home of US actor Nicolas Cage last year has been ordered to undergo a six-month drug rehabilitation programme. Robert Dennis Furo Jr pleaded guilty to stalking at a court in Santa Ana, near Los Angeles.
Mr Furo, 46, entered Mr Cage's home in Newport Beach on 1 October, stripped off and put on the actor's jacket.
The defendant's lawyer said his client had been in a stupor caused by sleeping pills and prescription painkillers.
Mr Furo was also ordered to have no direct or indirect contact with the Hollywood star and must remain at least 100 yards from Mr Cage's family.
Acting break
Two other charges were dropped and Mr Furo was given credit for time already served since he first appeared in court last year.
Mr Cage was at home with his family at the time of the incident.
He confronted Mr Furo, asked him to remove the jacket, escorted him outside and called a security guard.
The Oscar-winning actor is currently starring in box office hit National Treasure: Book of Secrets.
Despite his big screen success, the star has said he plans to take time off from acting to concentrate on other interests, including developing independent film-making.
