The new film version of Jane Austen's Pride and Prejudice has stormed to the top of the UK box office, taking three times as much as its nearest rival. The period adaptation made more than �2.5m in its opening weekend, bumping last week's top film, prison comedy The Longest Yard, down to second place.
The comedy took �838,963 in its second weekend, putting it just ahead of The 40-Year-Old Virgin, another comedy.
Grisly Australian horror movie Wolf Creek entered the chart at four.
Russell Crowe's boxing biopic Cinderella Man, which opened disappointingly last week in fourth place, has dropped down a spot to five.

The only other new entry this week was Must Love Dogs, which made its debut in 15th place.
The romantic comedy could only muster takings of �142,228, despite opening on 244 screens.
By comparison, football hooligan drama Green Street - playing on 240 screens - took �239,534 on its second week of release.
This week sees the release of Revolver, the latest film from Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels director Guy Ritchie.
The gangster thriller, which has received stinging reviews from the critics, receives its UK premiere in London on Tuesday.
