Film comedy The Longest Yard has beaten boxing film Cinderella Man to the top of the UK box office. The Longest Yard, which stars Adam Sandler as an American football player who ends up in prison, took �1.25m in its opening weekend.
But Cinderella Man, starring Hollywood heavyweight Russell Crowe, reached only number four with takings of �614,800.
Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, at number five, has now taken �36m since its release seven weeks ago.

The 40 Year Old Virgin slipped to number two after spending one week at the top, taking �998,617 over the weekend period.
Wes Craven's Red Eye also slipped one spot to number three, taking slightly more than �2m in two weeks.
Other films in the top 10 include Herbie: Fully Loaded, The Dukes of Hazzard and Crash.
Football hooligan film Green Street was a new entry in the chart at six, while another British film, The Business, fell from number five to 11.
