The film of 1970s TV show The Dukes of Hazzard has topped the UK box office in its first weekend on release, despite largely hostile reviews from critics. The US comedy made �1.7m between Friday and Sunday, bringing Charlie and the Chocolate Factory's four-week run at number one to an end.
Horror movie The Cave opened at five with a disappointing �563,761 take.
The children's film The Adventures of Shark Boy and Lava Girl in 3-D fared even worse, opening in eighth place.
The week's other new entries, teenage drama The Sisterhood of the Travelling Pants and Indian comedy No Entry, both opened outside the Top 10, at 13 and 14 respectively.

Nicole Kidman's comedy Bewitched, also based on a US TV series, dropped one place to three, while ensemble drama Crash held steady at four.
The week's biggest loser was martial arts action thriller Unleashed, which dropped four places to 10 in its second weekend with less than half of its first weekend's takings.
Family movies Herbie: Fully Loaded and Madagascar continued to perform well in their fourth and seventh week respectively.
This week sees the UK release of The 40-Year-Old Virgin, which has topped the US box office chart for two weeks in a row.
It is likely to outperform the two British films - cross-Channel swimming drama On a Clear Day and crime thriller The Business - also opening on Friday.
