Outside court, Campbell spoke out against drinking and driving |
US country singer Glen Campbell has admitted "extreme" drunken driving over a collision near his home, court officials have said. Campbell, 68, has also pleaded guilty to leaving an accident scene following the incident in November 2003.
Under a plea-bargain deal, a charge of aggravated assault will now be dropped.
Sentencing is due on 14 June. As part of the deal with prosecutors, Campbell could serve 10 days in jail and perform 75 hours of community service.
Campbell, 68, entered his plea to the two charges in Maricopa County Superior Court near his home in Phoenix, Arizona.
Outside court he told reporters: "Don't drink and drive. Don't drink, period. I don't think it's good for you."
After Campbell's arrest, court records showed he had registered a .20 blood-alcohol level. The legal limit in Arizona is .08, with extreme drunken driving at levels greater than .15.
He later apologised to family, friends and fans.
