Election fever hits Sudan amid fears of vote rigging

Voting in the Sudanese elections begins on Sunday in the first multi-party elections in nearly a quarter of a century.

However, the run up to the event has been marred by claims of vote rigging.

Several of the major opposition parties have announced they will boycott the polls as a result meaning President Omar El Bashir looks set to remain in power.

The elections are seen as a vital part of a peace agreement signed five years ago that brought an end to fighting between the Islamic north and the southern rebels.
