US Secretary of State Hillary Clinton has held talks with Somali President Sheikh Sharif Sheikh Ahmed in Kenya's capital, Nairobi.
Ahead of the meeting she expressed support for Somalia's transitional government, amid fears the country is becoming a haven for militants.
Speaking at the University of Nairobi, Ms Clinton called the situation in the country "tragedy" and said: "Our goal is to try and help create conditions of stability".
