Robbo speaks about Dancehall in NYC

"New York is big for Dancehall. New York has the largest concentration of Caribbean people outside of the Caribbean and Dancehall has crossed all cultures in the Big Apple. Reggae’s influence was instrumental in shaping the birth of Rap music.

It was in Long Island, New York where I recorded my 1st top ten reggae single 'Gal Gorgan' by Bobo General back in 1991, which peaked at No. 3 on the Echoes Reggae chart. New York has a special place for me.

There is no clear leader of the pack in NY. Bobby Konder and Jabba are doing their thing. In addition, the likes of Steely Bashment, Young Hawk (pictured above), DJ Obsession and others are all keeping the tradition alive out there."
