Previous day | Next dayDoing a radio show always takes a lot out of a DJ, but a live show from Jamaica in the sun is a
proper killer!! Being a Good Friday it was all about chillin' with my fried fish (I love the fish
here, as you probably gathered), festival and a slice of bun'n'cheese.
Done my usual afternoon circles around some of the studios and was surprised to find a lot of
them still working on the holiday. This dancehall business is a real 24 hour ting.
Caught up with Mikey Spice voicing tunes for Bobby Digital and was surprised to find Mighty Crown
laying down tracks with T.O.K and Fire B at Big Yard, producing tunes for their new label outta
Japan. They are in town for the big World Clash happening on Monday - boy, I'm getting tempted into
extending my stay and travelling to Mo'Bay for that one... Will have to have a word with the 1Xtra
bosses about that one... wish me luck.
Came back to the hotel to get ready for the Radio 1 show, which goes out at 3am in the UK, 10pm
Jamaican time. Caught up with the Big Yard crew on the show - Delicious, Mr Easy (should be a big
star by now) and Voicemail passed through. It was my last show on Radio 1. I've done a whole month
of shows on Friday nights, and I hope it made a nice change for Radio 1 listeners to catch some live
dancehall, direct from Jamaica. Hope we get the chance to do it again soon.
By the time the show done the night was still young so we headed up to a street party in Dwayney
Park (near Spanish Town) to make sure that Good Friday was a RRRRREAL Good Friday!! Get me. Robbo Ranx - 25 March 05
