The story of Singapore-born people in Britain roughly follows that of other nations with an ethnically Chinese population.
Most are clustered in the same areas as other Chinese nationalities, with London the dominant area. Portsmouth, home to a cluster of Malaysia-born people, is also home to a cluster of Singapore-born. The city state lies on the southern tip of Malaysia's western regions.
Of the 40,000 Singapore-born people in Britain, about a quarter were in London in 2001. Beyond the capital, there was some relatively widespread geographical distribution around the regions, albeit representing tiny clusters of families.
