Veterans share their memories of VJ Day 60 years on.

Sydney Gingold, 82, said: "VJ Day was a great occasion. Rangoon had fallen, so the battalion was finally on the move.

"I'd been there since 1943, trapped up in the hills by the Japanese.

"We were very scared of them - they were a first-class enemy."
