McDonald's has been targeted by protesters for more than 20 years; since 1999, when French farmer Jose Bove ransacked a restaurant, it has been open season.

What the protesters want is far from clear, though: McDonald's food may not be universally palatable, and its staff are modestly paid, but it has not been accused of serious malpractice.
