Nor is the oil transport problem solved by the BTC. Indeed, the BTC is only one of 13 separate pipeline developments, which aim to take oil to Russia and the Black Sea, to Iran and Pakistan, and east to China. In all, some $21bn could be invested in pipelines in the coming years. That's a huge sum for a region whose capacity is still far from secure.
