Mr Barghouti comes to vote at about 0930 accompanied by members of his family. The local and international media have been pre-warned and a large number of journalists are there to record the event.

The candidate is in buoyant mood, saying he is very happy with the election arrangement, but he's angry about a full-page advert for Abu Mazen in a local newspaper, in breach of election law that states campaigning must end at midnight on Friday.
