The story of Danielle Cable, whose fianc� Stephen Cameron was fatally stabbed by Kenneth Noye in a road rage attack in 1996, is being turned into a TV drama.

ITV1 said Ms Cable and her family have worked closely with producers "to tell the truth about the nightmare" of the murder and subsequent search for the killer.

The programme is the latest in a string of TV dramas based on real-life events, following Bloody Sunday, Hillsborough and The Murder of Stephen Lawrence.

Ms Cable will be played by Joanne Froggatt, known for starring as Zoe Tattersall in soap Coronation Street for 18 months in the late-1990s.

She has also been a regular in TV dramas including Red Cap, The Stretford Wives, Paradise Heights and Bad Girls.

Ms Cable's mother, Ann, will be played by Lindsey Coulson, who played Carol Jackson in EastEnders.

Producers say the drama will expose the "harrowing ordeal" of Ms Cable and her family, and their quest for justice.

Kenneth Noye was jailed for life for the stabbing in April 2000.

Noye killed Mr Cameron with a knife he kept in his car after the pair squared up on an M25 slip road near Swanley, Kent, in May 1996.

Ms Cable gave evidence against Noye at the trial after being forced to assume a new identity because of fears that Noye's underworld associates might attempt to stop her from testifying.

Noye was tracked down after a huge police manhunt led them to the Costa del Sol in Spain.

The production, called Danielle Cable: Eyewitness, is part of a new package of ITV1 real-life dramas.

In another production called Wall of Silence, Bloody Sunday actor James Nesbitt will play Stuart Robe, the father of 17-year-old Jamie Robe, who was beaten to death by a gang in 1997.

And the story of the lives of three Channel Island families under German occupation during World War II will be told in Island at War, while another new show, POW, is about three British men thrown together in the German Stalag Ottersburg prison camp in 1940.
