A radio DJ sacked after he played a song which ridiculed the Taleban has settled a compensation case with his employers. Ian Wickens was fired by Nottingham-based Century 106FM in October 2001, after playing the track, Hey Mr Taleban, on his breakfast show.
The song, set to the music of the Banana Boat song, included the line: "Run Mr Taleban, we know where you're hiding... air force come and flatten your home."
Mr Wickens, 32, who broadcasts as Ian Skye, was due at a tribunal on Monday, but settled the case instead.
Settlement
A spokesman for Century, which is owned by Capital Radio, refused to comment, saying the terms of the incident prevented both parties from talking publicly about the incident.
Producer Peter Allen, 28, was also fired over the incident, and also settled out of court.
Mr Wickens, who has presented at stations across the UK since 1995, now hosts the breakfast show on The Wolf in Wolverhampton.
He declined to comment about the case.
