Fiance's 'joy' over M25 conviction
Kenny Noye
Kenneth Noye has connections with the underworld
The fiance of Kenneth Noye's road rage victim, Danielle Cable, has said she was "overjoyed" when she heard he had been convicted of murder.

Noye was jailed for life on Friday for the stabbing, in May 1996, of 21-year-old Stephen Cameron.

The pair had squared up on a slip road of the M25 near Swanley, Kent, where Noye stabbed Mr Cameron to death with a knife he kept in his car.

He pleaded self-defence, as he had done in 1985 when acquitted of murdering Detective Constable John Fordham in the grounds of his home in West Kingsdown, Kent.

'Dream come true'

But this time the jury did not believe him and found him guilty by a majority of 11-1.

Ms Cable, now 21, was not at the Old Bailey to hear the verdict, but told The Express newspaper the verdict was "a dream come true", and dedicated it to the memory of her fiance.

She told the newspaper: "When the police officer phoned me from the court to tell me about the guilty verdict I was overjoyed. I could not believe it at first.

"But it will never bring back my Steve. I just hope he's looking down from heaven today and smiling.

"This is for him."

Ms Cable, who gave evidence against Noye at the trial, said she had feared he would never be brought to justice.

She was forced to assumed a new identity because of fears that Noye's underworld associates might attempt to stop her from testifying.

She has changed her appearance and taken a new name with the help of the police. She no longer lives in Kent and has only been able to contact her parents, and her fiance's parents, on a mobile phone.

The Sun reports that Noye had put out a 60,000 contract on Danielle's life.

Meanwhile The Mirror says he has offered 5m to anyone in the underworld who could spring him from prison.

Noye is likely to serve his time at one of three high security prisons - Parkhurst on the Isle of Wight, Whitemoor in Cambridgeshire or Gartree in Leicestershire. All three are almost escape-proof.
