How to banish traffic jams
At Much Woolton Primary School in Liverpool parents need to drive up a narrow cul-de-sac to get to the school.

The result is chaos at the school gates and parents, teachers and pupils alike are concerned about safety.

Here's how some of the pupils themselves would solve traffic congestion outside their school.

Richard Murphy, Age 10

"I think the solution is to have some more people walking and to have the yellow buses. This would solve the problem because there would be less cars and because most of the children would be in the buses it would be safer."

Jenny Dickson, Age 9

"I would start by bringing school buses in. And I would start the walking bus. My picture shows the walking croc with a teacher in front. Parents should bring more than two children by car."

Anna Moscadini, Age 9

"I come to school by car. I think you could solve this problem by starting the walking bus. In my picture I have shown how bad the traffic congestion is down Watergate lane. My picture says: walk don't drive."

Neil Kennedy, Age 10

"I normally come to school by the car. I worry about crossing the roads because there are people slamming their brakes and it looks quite dangerous. My answers to the traffic problems is the American school bus."

Luke Harkins, Age 10

"I come to school by car. I think the traffic is dangerous. I would solve the traffic problems with a crane lorry that could pick up any badly parked cars. I would make people pay 500 to get their car back. In my picture I have drawn a crane lorry."

Amy Bennett, Age 10

"In my picture I have got people with angry faces because of all the traffic problems. They cannot get to work on time and they cannot get their children to school. I think we should use the yellow school bus."
