Tori Amos debuted with the album Little Earthquakes in 1992, a set of honest and emotionally wrought songs that recalled Joni Mitchell and Kate Bush without being indebted to them.Since then Amos's songs have mostly concentrated on intimate stories of her religious upbringing, childhood traumas, sex, self-discovery and various unhappy relationships.
An imaginative pianist and a versatile vocalist, Amos makes music that is often inspiring but rarely comfortable, with musical influences ranging from classical to pop and rock.
She has been the recipient of BRIT Awards for Best New International Artist and Best International Solo Artist, 1993, and of numerous reader poll awards from publications including Rolling Stone, Q, and Keyboard.
