Friday 9th March

Max Gorvie in Freetown, Sierra Leone remembers war crime indictee, Sam Hinga Norman.

Norman, the people of Sierra Leone who went through difficult times during the days of the civil war - including those who hadn't the funds to seek refuge oversees - will always remember you in their prayers for fighting against the rebels.

You are gone but your memories will forever linger in our minds. Rest in Peace Sam Hinga Norman - the Hero of the helpless!

Thursday 8th March

Rev Bosco Bangura from Sierra Leone has a message for the ladies in his life.

As the world celebrates International Women's Day, I continue to think of three powerful women whose impact in my life has been so massive.

They are my wife, my sister and my mother!

Just thinking of them brings a smile to my face, but also ilicits pain as I think of the troubles they have seen.

There is still more to be done to help women, especially in Africa, to realize their sense of self worth. To all wives, sisters and mothers I say thank you for being who you are even in this unequal continent.

Wednesday 7th March

Paul Monde Shalala in Lusaka, Zambia has some advice.

In Africa, we believe that when people come to help you, you are supposed to receive them with both hands. But in Sudan it seems to be different. What those Darfurians are doing is bad, how can they kill innocent AU peacekeepers?

Those people are there to help keep the peace. Darfuris - give them protection and they will make your life better. After all your own government has failed to rule you in peace.

Tuesday 6th March

Ghana's golden jubilee is top of our mailbag. Here's Sulaiman Momodu in Monrovia, Liberia.

I was in Accra a few days ago and I was glad to see a nation so happy. The euphoria was just splendid. However, in spite of their relative peace and development, some Ghanaians are still complaining about everything.

I understand the hunger amongst Ghanaians for more development, but please let those not celebrating this day remember that even in Europe, America and other developed nations, everything is not rosy. There are still beggars and homeless people.
