Monday 26th February

Manyang David Mayar in Yei, Southern Sudan is pleased that trade union leaders have called off a strike in Guinea after President Lansana Conte agreed to replace his prime minister.

It is something wonderful and sweet indeed to hear that the strike is coming to an end. I appreciate the long awaited talks between the union leaders and the president which was mediated by the west African leaders.

Without this kind of activity the people of Guinea would have remained under harsh conditions for many more days to come.

Congratulations Ibrahim Babangida and your whole team.

Now, trade unions, go carefully, if you mess up this chance, remember that ''opportunity never knocks twice''.

Israel Ayongwa in Cameroon joins the current global debate about skinny models

It awakens the stupidity in me that some women should succumb to anorexia and starvation just because they crave for a fantasy model-like body.

Now bear with me, but I find it ludicrous that some women are forfeiting all the delicacies that our rich African dishes can offer because they want to be a size which is just a non-event to me. As though the size of a man matters!

Now let me tell you this secret. I love my well-prepared African dishes and will therefore spare no effort to consume my meal with relish and gusto.

On the whole, I find it ironic and bizarre that most men cherish healthy chunks of chicken and meat and would readily sink their teeth into such a delicious morsal, but surprisingly enough when it comes to women, they prefer the bony and typical emaciated type.

What poor taste!

Wednesday 21st February

Mayen Akuot Atem from Southern Sudan celebrates the decision by a military court in Democratic Republic of Congo to send 13 soldiers to life imprisonment for war crimes over a massacre in Ituri

Bravo to the military court in DRC for convicting these soldiers who kill their own people.

Remember, when you are in power you will have to be accountable for your actions because as the saying goes every dog has it''s own day.

Tuesday 20th February

Karaka Mayen has emailed his praise for Rwandan president Paul Kagame who set 9,000 prisoners free this week.

In Africa when you do something good, it looks like you are pushing the boundaries forward.

Remember President Kagame releasing the prisoners gives hope to so many that justice has reached the continent.

May Rwanda remain in peace and democracy.
