Uganda
President Yoweri Museveni's joint offensive against the northern LRA rebels in the DR Congo has so far failed to yield the rebel leader Joseph Kony. Josephine Hazeley put it to him that the campaign started poorly because he first bombed their positions before sending in ground troops. 9th March 2009
A delegation of Joseph Kony's Lords Resistance Army (LRA) mediators and tribal leaders from Gulu will be travelling to Rikwangba at the South Sudan/DR Congo border for the scheduled November 29th peace signing ceremony. The UN special envoy at the talks is former President of Mozambique Joachim Chissano. Our reporter Noel Mwakugu met him in Nairobi and asked if he was confident that finally there will be a deal to end 20 years of fighting in Northern Uganda. 25th November 2008
The last attempt back in April to sign Uganda's peace agreement failed when rebel leader, Joseph Kony, did not show up. When the rebels' chief negotiator, David Matsanga, came to our studio, he told Stephane Mayoux that Kony was ready to sign but the LRA would not disarm while the International Criminal Court arrest warrants were still active. 20th November 2008
The Congolese army is preparing to take military action against the Ugandan rebel group, the Lord's Resistance Army, after LRA leader Joseph Kony failed to sign a peace agreement with the government. In the capital Kampala, Sarah Grainger asked the Ugandan army spokesman, Major Paddy Ankunda if this meant the peace talks had failed? 4th June 2008

Opposition Patriotic Front party leader Michael Sata tells the BBC's Musonda Chibamba why he is going to court to get the election result - which awarded the MMD candidate, Rupiah Banda the presidency - overturned.

The official leader of Zambia's opposition Patriotic Front party, Michael Sata says he and President Levy Mwanawasa have put their differences aside in the interests of the country. Mr Sata's recent bill for healthcare in South Africa was met by the Zambian government after he took seriously ill, nonetheless, members of his party have been taken by surprise by his announcement. The BBC's Musonda Chibamba asked Mr Sata whether he was considering stepping down after his recent heart attack. 27th May 2008

Zimbabwe's unity-government finance minister, Tendai Biti, has spoken about his plans for the first time since his nomination to the post. The powerful secretary-general of the Movement for Democratic Change has strongly hinted that one of his first decisions will be to sack the Central Bank governor, Gideon Gono. Southern Africa Development Community (SADC) leaders are holding a special summit in South Africa in another attempt to end the crisis in Zimbabwe. President Mugabe and MDC leader, Morgan Tsvangirai remain deadlocked over the shape of a new power-sharing government, despite signing a deal last September to end years of hostility. On the line to Harare, Farouk Chothia asked the MDC secretary-general, Tendai Biti, what were they expecting from the summit. 26th January 2009
Following the opposition MDC's withdrawal from the presidential run-off election just 5 days before polling day, the United Nations Security Council issued a presidential statement unanimously condemning the violence and intimidation against the opposition in Zimbabwe.
