Ghana

For the first time in Ghana's history, there will be a woman at the helm of the country's legal affairs. Betty Mould Iddrisu is the country's new justice minister and attorney-general designate, she outlined her immediate priorities to Uduak Amimo. 20th February 2009

Ghanaians head to the polls later this year to choose a successor to President John Kufuor whose second term in office is coming to an end. One of the party's fielding a candidate is the Convention People's Party (CPP). The party was founded by Ghana's first president and Pan Africanist Kwame Nkrumah. However, since Nkrumah's overthrow in 1966 the CPP has been very weak, getting only 3 seats in the 230 seat parliament at the last elections. Dr Paa Kwesi Nduom, believes he can turn around the party's fortunes. Komla Dumor asked him why the party of Nkrumah was performing so badly in elections. 16th July 2008

Kenya

Raila Odinga's ODM party pulled out of talks with Kenya's government unable to reach agreement on the composition of the coalition cabinet as outlined by the peace agreement brokered by the former UN chief Kofi Annan. Amidst renewed fears of violence, Uduak Amimo asked him if it was not an irresponsible move? 9th April 2008

Liberia

During Liberia's civil war, Joe Wylie was a spokesman for the LURD rebel group, now he is working as an academic. He's just finished a book about his life and the politics of Liberia. He's also preparing to appear before Liberia's truth and reconciliation commission. When he came into our studio Audrey Brown asked him how he thinks the country can be healed. 7th July 2008

Madagascar

The Mayor of Antananarivo, Andry Rajoelina is sacked by Madagascar's interior ministry following a week of protests which culminated in the Mayor calling for the courts and parliament to remove President Ravolamanana. Christophe Pons reached him on the phone to Antananarivo before his removal and asked him then whether his call for the removal of the President was constitutional. 2nd February 2009

Malawi

Malawian voters go to the polls in presidential and legislative elections on 19th May this year. The incumbent, President Bingu wa Mutharika, has already been endorsed as his party's candidate. It is the first time the Democratic Progressive Party will be tested in national elections since it split from the United Democratic Front. Uduak Amimo asked President Mutharika how he rated his chances given that last time around he was backed by former president, Bakili Muluzi.

Malawian police have questioned former president Bakili Muluzi at his home on the outskirts of Blantyre in connection with an alleged coup plot. Uduak Amimo reached him on the telephone afterwards to find out what they wanted to know. 26th May 2008

In Malawi the perennial issue of third terms for presidents in Africa has come up again with the United Democratic Front having to consider whether to choose former president Bakili Muluzi to stand in elections next year or not. Mr Muluzi has already had two terms in office. And now he wants a third - after his successor Bingu Wa Mutharika ditched the party and struck out on his own after winning the election in 2004. But the former president may be banned from standing again by the constitution. So why does he want to risk it? Former president Muluzi spoke to Raphael Tenthani. 24th April 2008

Mauritania

The daughter of the ousted president of Mauritania, Sidi Mohamed Ould Cheikh Abdallahi, has been calling for international support to help restore the country's first democratically elected government. She works as a communications assistant to her father and spoke to Uduak Amimo about her fears for her father's safety.
