Typhoon Muifa hits Taiwan and Japan's southern islands
Typhoon Muifa is currently drifting slowly north over the Ryukyu islands. It's already brought heavy rain to parts of Taiwan. Sustained winds near the centre of Muifa are around 140km/hr and it looks likely to maintain this intensity while moving slowly north over the next 48hrs. It should start to weaken from Wednesday but it'll accelerate north-westwards with landfall possible in eastern China, near Shanghai, later in the week. BBC Weather's Susan Powell explains
