Born in Berkshire and growing up in Cheshire, Stav Danaos became obsessed with thunderstorms at a young age, sparking a life-long interest in weather.
Graduating from Manchester Metropolitan University in 1999 with a degree in Environmental Science, Stav initially worked in pharmaceutical research.
He joined the BBC Weather Centre in 2007, presenting weather forecasts on BBC Nations and Regions radio.
In 2010 Stav joined the BBC Scotland weather team at Pacific Quay in Glasgow, becoming their main breakfast TV presenter and a regular voice on BBC Radio Scotland's flagship Good Morning Scotland programme.
Stav loved life in Scotland, but he was delighted to return to London in 2013 to become part of the network weather team broadcasting to the UK and globally.
He felt privileged to present the last ever TV weather forecast from the iconic BBC Television Centre, before the move to New Broadcasting House in central London.
Stav loves to travel in his spare time, and one of his favourite hobbies is cooking. He is also a keen environmentalist.
Stav loves a good hike or ramble and meets up with some of his best friends every few months for a weekend excursion. Among his favourite places to walk are the West Country, North Wales, the Peak District and, of course, Scotland.
