Your stories
House with sold signMoving to Wales

Moving to a new place can be daunting at the best of times. We asked for your stories about moving to Wales, and how you've settled in.

"I moved to Wales three and a half years ago and my only regret is that I did not move here sooner. I feel so lucky to have found a home in one of the most beautiful and Welsh speaking parts of the country. Neighbours have become friends and their help is constantly on offer in my struggle to learn Welsh.

There is still a way to go yet but this is a challenge that I have grasped with both hands and nothing will stop me from becoming fluent as soon as I can.Stella Brockington

One of the most enjoyable things that intrigues me is the wonderful history of Wales and I am especially interested in Welsh traditional dress and National costume. The lack of books on Welsh dress from the last two centuries has inspired me to delve into the archives of this fascinating subject and has inspired me to write a book (bi-lingual of course).

First things first though; I have just completed two years Wlpan Course and now I am studying Pellach. There is still a way to go yet but this is a challenge that I have grasped with both hands and nothing will stop me from becoming fluent as soon as I can.

I am constantly learning wonderful things about the language and history of Wales and it gives me a great sense of achievement and belonging every day." Stella Brockington, Carmarthen
