1974: Open Door - The Whetley Voice

Open Door was a programme in which the BBC handed over air time to the public, running for ten years from 1973-1983.

In this episode, we look at The Whetley Voice - a community newspaper in Bradford covering an area stretching "from the traffic lights up there to the traffic lights down there".

The paper's editor and the community show how this vital organ is produced and talk about the value of grassroots journalism.

This programme was originally broadcast on BBC Two, Monday 24 June, 1974.
