1977: Open Door - Sunshine Goes to School

Open Door was a programme in which the BBC handed over air time to the public, running for ten years from 1973-1983.

In this episode, we follow Elkan Ola Ogunde, nicknamed Mr Sunshine, as he tours schools in London teaching them about Nigerian and wider African culture.

"My aim in life is to bring a little of Africa's sunshine into the classrooms of Britain with my kind of music and dance."

This programme was originally broadcast on BBC Two, Monday 14 November, 1977.
