1970: Eartha Kitt learns Yorkshire anthem
How did international star Eartha Kitt end up at a market stall being taught how to sing On Ilkla Moor Baht 'At, Yorkshire's unofficial 'national anthem'?
The entertainer was appearing at Batley Variety Club, which was one of Britain's most famous night spots at the time.
Nationwide's Bob Langley caught up with her in delightful form as she got a chance to sample tripe and meet some friendly local people.
Speaking about her affinity for Batley, she said: "I wasn't born in such a different world. I came out of extreme poverty and I have acquired things, yes - the things have not acquired me."
