1980: At home with The Undertones

“The food’s better and you’ve a bed waiting for you – it’s as simple as that.”

Mickey Bradley and Damian O’Neill of the Undertones explain why they’re still based in Derry/Londonderry, and why the “rotten” groups in the city inspired them to form a band.

Meanwhile, more young bands are starting up and there’s a new four-track studio for them to record, even though it’s “more like a launderette”.

This clip is from Something Else, a magazine programme for and made by young people.

Originally broadcast 8 December 1980.
