So far, we have yet to come across a city that could rival Newcastle Gateshead for Capital of Culture, but our trip to Birmingham has left us a little nervous. Even our Radio Newcastle snooping listeners, Joy and Ron Little found it difficult to find fault with Birmingham. They certainly got the VIP treatment from Brummies only too keen to show off their city, as they were treated to an exclusive open top bus tour.  | | Mathilde Branson is torn between two cities |
Visiting Geordie Expats also found themselves torn between their current home and their place of birth. Mathilda Branson from Hexham is studying in Birmingham. She says: "I like Newcastle Gateshead and Birmingham equally, but I don't think Newcastle Gateshead gets enough recognition."  | | "Newcastle is compact and sexy" |
Andy Dicky who was born in Newcastle, but brought up in Brum says: "Birmingham is the Sophie Dahl of the modelling world, large and volumptuous where as Newcastle is the Kate Moss, compact and sexy. If presenting a three hour show from a different destination each day isn't enough for the BBC Blue Bus and its team, they also have to get accustomed to becoming media darlings.
