| | We've teamed up with a national search on BBC Radio 4 to find the most spiritual places across Beds, Herts and Bucks. Jo Coleman nominates a quiet place in Hertfordshire. |
 | | | The Dappled Garden - Jo Coleman: Apart from my regular church, St Johns in Harpenden, the most spiritual place Ive visited recently is "The Dappled Garden". | | The Dappled Garden |
Its a private garden in Harpenden, affiliated to the Quiet Garden Trust. A peaceful oasis of calm, scented roses ramble through every tree and the sun-dappled lawn meanders between well-mulched borders bulging with shrubs, through a wild wood leading to a living willow house. It's the perfect hideaway to contemplate nature and meditate or pray.

I would love to take my elderly mother there, if I knew where it was. She cannot walk far anymore, but she still appreciates beauty. It could be our special place. |
