Male, dark hair, red top: I want to plant these 15 plants into window boxes.
Now I know that three go into each box so if I divide 15 by three I know that I need five boxes.
Female, dark hair, dark bead necklace, dark top: It's important to get the division right so that we can all pay our fair share and pay the right amount to the restaurant.
Female, dark hair, dark bead necklace, dark top: Ah, the bill's £30 so we've got to divide that up.
Female, dark hair, dark bead necklace, dark top: So, divided by three that's £10 each.
Is that okay?
Male, grey hair, glasses, white shirt: Yeah.
Male, dark blond hair, facial hair, dark clothes: Yeah, that's fine.
Male, white hard hat, hi vis coat: So when we're working out a staircase we have an end point where the staircase is going to land called the landing.
At the bottom of the staircase is where the staircase starts from.
We measure that distance which in this case is 1600mm, so it's 1.6m, and then we divide that by how many steps we're going to have or how many rises.
So in this case there's eight rises so we divide 1600 by eight and we get a nice even 200mm.
Dividing is splitting or sharing an amount into a number of equal parts. Like splitting a bill.
