Stacey Dooley interviews a young woman about domestic abuse. The woman, Louise, suffered abuse at the hands of her controlling ex-boyfriend.
Louise is injured during an argument in which her ex-boyfriend drives off while she is still attached to the car.
After visiting the hospital, she ends up in a refuge.

Teacher Notes
Whilst watching the clip, students could list the ways the abuser controlled Louise.
They could discuss why it was difficult for Louise to spot them at the time and share their feedback with the class. How did this affect Louise’s life at the time?
In groups, students could try to work out where caring stops and control starts, and think of examples they could use to show the difference between someone just being caring and someone giving the impression of caring in order to manipulate someone.
They could suggest a rule or catch phrase they can use to remind themselves and others when to notice the warning signs.
