French KS3 / KS4: Selecting the Right Conjunction

Nestled in a cosy Parisian café, four British students take part in a game of Finissez de boire, all with the aim of improving their knowledge of French conjunctions.

For this grammatical challenge, each student is presented with three cups, each one with a conjunction on it.

They will then be posed a sentence with the conjunction missing.

To complete the task, each of the students must drink from the cup they believe has the correct conjunction on it.

The correct cups are filled with something lovely like tea or lemonade, while the other ones are filled with … something else.

This clip is from the series French Grammar for 14-16s.

Teacher Notes

You could set up a challenge similar to that in the film. Get each of your students to come up with a sentence and list of possible conjunctions.

They can then take it in turns to have a go at the challenge themselves.

Curriculum Notes

This clip is relevant for teaching French at KS3 and KS4 in England, Wales and Northern Ireland and at National 4 and 5 in Scotland.
