BEN:Come on lets go outside and play football. Yay!
RADHA:Are you coming Breagha?
BREAGHA:No.I don’t really want to play football.
BEN:But you love football, What's wrong?
BREAGHA:Well… I was playing at playtime yesterday. And I accidently kicked the ball into our own teams goal. My face went all red and I just wanted to curl up into a ball. In fact, my face feels all warm now.
RADHA:Oh Breagha, I think you're feeling embarrassed.
RADHA:'Have you ever done something ditsy in front of your friends? 'Or missed your mouth at dinner? 'Or someone has seen you doing something silly? 'Then maybe that hot flush you feel means that you're embarrassed.
BREAGHA:That's it… That's how I'm feeling. Embarrassed.8RADHA:Oh Breagha, I can understand why you feel that way. You think you did something wrong and let your teammates down. But it was just an accident. And that can happen to anyone.
RADHA:So Breagha, why don’t you tell us what happened so that we can talk about it?
BREAGHA:Well… OK. I was really excited about playing football at playtime. It was a great game. And I was really enjoying playing with all my friends. No one had scored, but just as the bell went…
BELL RINGS
BREAGHA:I kicked the ball! And… GOAL! Only I'd scored into the wrong net.
BREAGHA:My own team's. I was sure everyone was laughing at me. And I felt really silly for scoring a goal in the wrong net. My face started to feel hot and go all red.
BREAGHA:I thought it was going to cry. It wasn't nice at all.
RADHA:We've all felt embarrassed and that’s OK. But it's not a nice feeling to have is it?
BREAGHA:No it isn't Radha.
RADHA:Well you know there are ways to make yourself feel better when you feel this way. Why don’t we ask our feelings friends to help us?
BEN:Oh yes!
RADHA:Hello Poppy and Jamie, come in.
ALL:Hello.
RADHA:Breagha's feeling embarrassed today. And sometimes when we feel like that we might want to get angry. Or we might want to cry.
RADHA:But a better way to handle it, is to do some deep breathing. Like this. And out.
RADHA:And sometimes, if we can find the funny side of something it can help too! So, were going to do some really silly dance moves! But instead of feeling embarrassed, everyone else is going to copy us. And we're going to laugh about it.
BEN:Ah great, I love being silly!
RADHA:So I'm going to go first, ready?
PLAYFUL MUSIC
RADHA:Your turn Poppy.
BEN:Oh that’s a good one!
RADHA:That’s a good one!
BEN:Yes.
RADHA:Let's try that everyone.
RADHA:Jamie your turn.
RADHA:Fantastic. Now your turn Breagha.
BREAGHA:OK. Umm
BEN:Good one!
BREAGHA:That's it, that’s it.
RADHA:Brilliant!
BEN:That was the silliest dance move, ever!
BREAGHA:I know, and I wasn't embarrassed at all.
RADHA:Aww that’s great Breagha. Thank you so much Poppy and Jamie for all your help today. We're see you soon!
ALL:Bye! Thank you!
BREAGHA:I feel much better. I understand that feeling embarrassed is OK. And everyone feels it sometimes. My own goal was just a mistake.
RADHA:That's right.
BREAGHA:And… Thinking about it now, it was a little bit funny too!
BEN:Just a little bit.
